How My Guide Follows Work

Last updated September 2026

My Guide is Playhead's personalization layer - what you follow shapes what Agenda shows automatically, what "My teams" filters down to, and which games get an automatic reminder armed for them.

Three levels, all additive

You can follow at three levels, and they don't override each other - they add up:

  • Team - follow one specific team.
  • Conference / division - follow an entire conference or division at once, college or pro.
  • League - follow a whole league, every team in it.

Following a league doesn't unfollow a team you already followed individually, and following a team inside a league you also follow isn't redundant or conflicting - it's just two reasons a game shows up instead of one. There's no hierarchy to manage; every checked box just adds its own games to the pool.

My Services is a separate thing

Following covers who you want to see - teams, conferences, leagues. My Services covers where you can actually watch: the specific channels and streaming apps you have access to. Turn on the ones you subscribe to, and the "My services" filter (see how filtering works) will narrow the guide down to games you can actually watch right now, not just games you're interested in.

What following actually changes

  • Agenda automatically includes any game your follows touch.
  • The "My teams" quick filter narrows the Grid/List to those games.
  • A followed team's next upcoming game gets a reminder armed for it automatically - see how reminders work.
  • Followed teams get more weight in Top Matchups, the guide's "worth watching now" row.

Where to manage it

Follow a team or league directly from its games in the Grid or List, or manage everything in one place from the My Guide screen - team, conference, and league follows are all listed together there, and unfollowing anything takes effect immediately across Agenda, filters, and reminders.
