Frequently asked questions

Getting started

Do I need an account?

No. Every feature works without signing in - following teams, filtering by your services, setting reminders. Signing in is only for keeping your follows and settings the same across more than one device. You can always open the guide and start using it right away.

What leagues and sports do you cover?

NFL, NCAA Football, NBA, WNBA, NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball, NHL, and MLB at full coverage, plus MLS, NWSL, and a growing list of college sports, racing, golf, tennis majors, and MMA.

Is Playhead free?

Yes, the full guide is always free. Ad-Free ($1.99/mo) removes ads; Pro ($4.99/mo) adds My Guide, Agenda, game reminders, and channel sorting. See pricing for details.

Using the guide

How do I follow a team or league?

Open any game and tap Follow under either team's name, or use the Manage Leagues and Teams screen in Settings to browse and follow by sport, league, or conference.

What does "My Guide" show that "All" doesn't?

"My Guide" shows games involving your followed teams or games in your followed leagues - not just an intersection of both. If you follow Utah and turn on the full NCAA Football league, you'll see the whole Saturday slate, not just Utah's own game.

Why does a game say "Regional - check local listings"?

Some broadcasts (regional sports networks, local MLB/NHL rights) genuinely depend on where you live, and we don't have real blackout/market data to show you the exact channel yet. That label means the broadcast is real, but it's local to a specific market rather than national.

The channel listed is wrong - what do I do?

Open the game and tap "Wrong channel?" under Where to Watch. It goes straight into a real review queue - most fixes land within a day.

Notifications & sync

How do reminders work?

Tap the bell on any upcoming game to get a reminder 30 minutes before it starts. By default this uses your browser's own notification feature and only fires while the tab is open; turning on Push Notifications in Settings lets a reminder reach you even when the tab is closed.

What syncs if I sign in, and what stays on this device?

Followed teams/leagues, your services, spoiler-free mode, odds preference, theme, and most other settings sync to your account. Time zone override, clock format, haptics, notification permissions, and your local cache always stay on the device you set them on. Sign in to turn this on.

Data, privacy, and odds

Where does your schedule/broadcast data come from?

Directly from ESPN's own public data. See Data & Credits for the full breakdown of every source.

Is the betting-odds info accurate, and can I turn it off?

Odds are shown exactly as ESPN provides them, attributed to the real sportsbook and timestamp, and are off by default. You can turn them on or off any time in Settings.

What do you do with my data?

See the full Privacy Policy - the short version is: almost nothing leaves your device unless you sign in, and nothing is sold or shared beyond what Google Analytics and, on this website, Google AdSense collect.
