About Playhead
Playhead is a personal project, not a company - one guide for figuring out what's actually on, and whether you can watch it with what you already have.
Who's behind it
Playhead is built and run by Mike Howarth - one person, not a team. If something looks wrong or you have a question, the contact page reaches them directly.
Why it exists
Sports are scattered across more channels and streaming apps every year, and every one of them has its own guide that only knows about itself. Playhead started from a plain annoyance: checking six different apps just to find out what's on tonight, and whether it's somewhere you already pay for. It's one guide across all of them instead.
What it does
Tell it the teams and leagues you follow and the services you already have - cable, YouTube TV, ESPN+, whatever - and it shows today's games with the channel or app each one is on, marked as something you can already watch or not. No hunting through six schedules to find that out.
Coverage
NFL, NCAA Football, NBA, WNBA, NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball, NHL, and MLB at full coverage, plus MLS, NWSL, and a growing list of college sports, racing, golf, tennis majors, and MMA.
Free to use
The full guide is free, always. Two optional plans sit on top of it: Ad-Free ($1.99/mo) removes ads, and Pro ($4.99/mo) adds My Guide, Agenda, game reminders, and channel sorting - see the pricing page. Signing in is optional - the guide works fully without an account, and it's there to sync your follows and settings across devices and to hold a paid plan if you choose one.
Data, logos, and the fine print
Game data, team logos, and the app's icon set all come from somewhere else - see Data & Credits for exactly where. What actually happens with your data is on the Privacy Policy page, written the same plain way as this one.
